Raith seniors entertained Falkirk this afternoon at Starks Park, the sun was out but the temperature was cold 🥶.
Both teams started the game well with some fantastic passing moves seeing both Dougie McCallum in the Falkirk goal and Jim Harvey in the Raith goals pulling out some fantastic saves.
Raith took the lead after a corner from John Gemmel from the left was fired home by Pete Moodie to our Raith one up.
Both teams create several more opportunities but Falkirk level the scoring in bizarre circumstances as a through ball was cut out by Niall Balloch but his pass back found the bottom corner, a goal any striker would have been proud off.
Raith pushes forward and once again Pete Moodie scores from a corner quickly followed by Chris Jackson 20 yard volley from a cleared corner to put Raith 3-1 up, Falkirk continued to push forward but Raith keeper Jim pulled out several save before Falkirk’s Keith Bath bundled the ball home from close range.
Raith continued to push forward and the 1st half goals weren’t over Mark Anderson broke forward only to be brought down and a penalty be awarded. Jock Gem steppes up and fired it in to the top right corner putting Raith 4-2 up.
Second half got under way and Falkirk’s David Rankin scores with a lovely chip in to the top right corner to make it 4-3, Raith then pushed forward to try and extended there lead but Dougie McCallum in the Falkirk goal pulled out some tremendous saves but there was nothing he could do when a deflected shot dropped to Graham Simpson who fired home, 5-3.
Callum McTaggart quickly pulled one back to make it 5-4 from the penalty spot
Raith then scored and it’s only taken him 2 years but the ball dropped to the edge of goal, Allan Anderson, spin his defender and fired home from 20 yards. (Well done Allan)
Falkirk came back at Raith and finished the game strong and Jim Harvey in the Raith goal pulled out 4 or 5 quality saves before Callum McTaggart latched on to a through ball and scored making it 6-5 to Raith. Both teams continued to push forward for more goals but both keepers stood strong.
Final score 6-5 to Raith.
This match could have easily finished 10-10 well done both teams
