Berwick rangers seniors travel up to take on raith seniors at starks park. With a heavy down poor just before kick off the pitch was perfect for both teams to get the ball down and knock it about.

Both sides were happy too knock the ball around, maybe to much at times. A few half chances for both sides came and went.

Raith were to open their account with a coner which was meant by big Pete Moodie to give Berwicks keeper no chance. Berwick did have a short spell of keeping the ball but Raith were not letting Berwick break them down. Soon Raith were to go two up with a goal on the break with a good passing move seen them get in behind Berwick defence to all Mark Anderson to fire home putting them 2 goals up.

At two down berwick were still in the game and when pud Murray let fly from 25 yards it looked like it would be 2-1 but Raith keeper jim Harvey was having none of it. Pulling out a top draw save tipping the shot on to the top of the bar. Berwick was pushing and getting more shots in on goal but couldn't get past the Raith keeper.

Raith hit on the break with a quick counter attack move, a cross was put in from the right causing havoc in the Berwick defence with a defender heading towards his own goal producing a fantastic save by the keeper but Mark headed in the rebound.

As half time came Berwick pulled a goal back from David Shields after a poor clearance left him in space to pick his spot in the bottom right corner from 25 yards however the keeper getting his hand to it but was unable to keep it out.

Second half saw Berwick came out the blocks and had two great chances to get level, again the keeper doing his job pulling out 2 fantastic saves to keep the score at 3-1 with more chances getting created by Berwick they thought they would get back into game.

On 70 minutes Berwick broke the offiside trap, David Shields ran one on one at the Raith Keeper and fired low to his right hand corner but Jim Harvey in goals got down and pushed the ball away only to get back up in time to save as the 2nd shot come in before holding on to the third effort, a fantastic triple save that seemed to knock the stuffing out of the Berwick lads.

On 82 Minutes the ball was played in to the box and as Mark Anderson tried to run on to it he was taken out and the referee had no option but to point to the spot.

Mark stepped up himself and placed the ball home in to the bottom left putting Raith 4-1 up and securing his hatrick.

Raith saw out the last 8 minutes comfortably and could have extended their lead.

Berwick put up a spirited performance and on another day the game could have turned out differently.
