On Sunday 17thFebruary 2019, Raith seniors and Dunfermline meet in their first derby since 2017. The sun was shinning and conditions were fantastic for the match.
The game kicked off and Raith pilled forward putting the Dunfermline defence under a great deal of pressure early on creating several good chances but the finishing was of poor quality with most shots being straight at the Dunfermline goalkeeper.
Anderson and Harvey were link well up front with Harvey several times putting Anderson through and his cut backs to Harvey were cleared by last ditch defending from the impressive Thow at the back for Dunfermline.
Raith were moving the ball around quickly and were causing issues for the Dunfermline defence but slack passing and the lack of a killer final ball let Dunfermline off the hook.
The first half followed the same pattern through and that was Dunfermline sitting in and soaking up the pressure.
Harvey swung in several corners from both sides that were meet by Raith heads but not on target.
On 35 minutes saw save of the day when Harvey created space on the corner of the box and unleashed a fantastic strike only to see the Dunfermline keeper touch the ball round the post for a corner. Harvey then swung a cross in from the left and Moodie headed just over the bar.
Raith Seniors 0-0 Dunermline
Dunfermline made a few subs at half time and it appeared to work in there favour as Raith struggled to have them same control on the match as both teams worked hard without really creating and early opportunity.
On 60 minutes Raith took the lead as McLellan broke from the middle of the park beat two defenders before firing in to the keepers bottom left hand corner.
Raith hoped this would allow them to push on a score more goals but the lack of quality finishing seemed to be missing this afternoon once again.
Several chances were made however every shot was straight at the keeper and the hardest shot the Dunfermline keeper had to make was a volley from his own player that saw the keeper producing a diving header to clear the ball off the line.
Dunfermline continued to work hard but didn’t really didn’t have a shot on goal allowing Houston to finish the game with a clean sheet.
