Middlesbrough 0-9 Raith

Raith seniors travelled down south to take on Middlesbrough FFIT.

Raith took a small squad down south but with the intentions of putting in a good team effort in the glorious sun.

Raith started the game off fantastic and pushed forward in numbers right from kick off and create several opportunities but were guilty of some poor finishing.

Raith took the lead after Gemmel played a cross-field pass to Harvey who took one touch and played Watson in on goal who calmly finished scoring his first goal for the club.

Raith continued to push forward and once again Raith broke the offside trap and Harvey fired home putting Raith 2 up. Raith continued to push forward for a 3rd goal with the Middlesbrough keeper pulling out several excellent saves including tipping Harvey’s 20 yard shot on to the top of the bar.

Just before half time Raith scored their 3rd and well-deserved goal after Gemmel fired home lobbing the keeper from 25 yards.

Raith team talk at half time was to continue to push forward and put the game to bed and it saw them pushing Dera forward and Harvey dropping in the back 4.

The match continued in the same fashion with Raith pushing forward with Watson missing several good opportunities.

After 65 mins Raith went 4-0 up with Dera scoring a wonderful solo goal. After the goal Dera dropped back in to centre half.

Raith continued to push forward and with the Middlesbrough team starting to tire Raith took full advantage with Harvey scoring from close range to make it 5 and mins later fired in to make it 6-0.

Watson then scored his 2nd of the match to put Raith 7-0 up before a calf injury saw him being replaced.

Raith continued to show their dominance and pushed forward with Harvey rounding the keeper and firing it to make it 8-0 and Craig Mitchell finished off an excellent performance by scoring his first goal for the club.

Middlesbrough continued to push forward and played some good football and on several occasion Houston had to pull out some fantastic saves to keep his clean sheet.

Overall it was a fantastic afternoon for Raith with some excellent passing and teamwork on display.
